This file can be used in the following paths:
  • • c:\windows\system32\drivers\
  • • c:\program files\avast software\avast\setup\inf\x86\
  • • c:\windows.old\windows\system32\drivers\
  • • c:\program files\avast software\avast\setup\inf\x64\
    • The above paths are the common paths where this file is located, but does not mean that it must be stored in the above paths. The file should be stored in the actual installation path of the software.
    Tip: If you cannot find the software installation path, you can follow the path suggested above, find one by one, and put the file inside the path found.
Tip: How to correctly select the file you need
  • 1.  If you know MD5 value of the required files, it is the best approach to make choice
  • 2.  If your original file is just corrupted but not lost, then please check the version number of your files. (Method: Click your original file, and then click on the right key to select "Properties" from the pop-up menu, you can see the version number of the files)
  • 3.  If your operating system is 32-bit, you must download 32-bit files, because 64-bit programs are unable to run in the 32-bit operating system.
  • 4.  There is a special case that, the operating system is a 64-bit system, but you are not sure whether the program is 32-bit or 64-bit. If you encounter this situation, check the file path to see whether there are any other files located in. If yes, please check the properties of these files, and you will know if the file you need is 32-bit or 64-bit.

    aswardisk.sys issue

    Hi ! I re-send the message first sent as common but now with clicking "I need help!" because this is my work PC that crashes.

    All my reboots stop at aswardisk.sys

    I can read my tower PC HDD, I have saved all my data etc ... but I wish to avoid reinstalling windows seven (I have 10 on my laptop but I prefer 7 and also plan to keep it till moving to a new tower PC)

    I have changed the name of aswardisk.sys into aswardisk.xxx in hope of having the reboot skip the avast drivers but that doesn't work.

    I intend to replace the file with a not corrupted one taken from your site but its MD5 a40bb8d2193381ef81e7302596fd0f15 doesn't show up in your list.

    Below is the command I typed in to get its MD5

    F:\>certutil -hashfile "aswardisk.xxx" MD5
    Hachage MD5 de aswardisk.xxx :

    PLEASE may you tell me if one of the files in your list of aswardisk is a suitable replacement of my aswardisk ?

    Mine has size 34.8K, it is located in the system32 directory but the OS is 64 bits (Seven pack 1), I let Avast update its files on my PC and it was last modified on november 13 2021.

    Reply: Hello, I have read your information carefully. I feel that it may not be the problem with this file. It may be that there is a problem with the AVG software itself, and the wrong parameters may have been set. It is more likely that some important information of the AVG software in the system registry was accidentally deleted or modified by other software, which caused the AVG software not to run normally.

    I suggest you not to worry about repairing this file. You can consider uninstalling the AVG software first, then use some professional uninstallation software to completely clear the residual information of AVG, and finally install the latest AVG version.

    I need file aswArDisk.sys version 20.6.107.0 dated 7/30/2020. I am not familiar with the Md5 number and didn't find it.
    Reply: This version is a bit new and I can't find it yet. I went to the official website of avast and found that a new version was released. Maybe you can get this file from the new installation package.
